Sorry guys… I guess I was hoping to confuse people with my comments. If I didn’t confuse you then you probably find yourself trying to keep the law by your own efforts without even realising it. I just find it fascinating how the law manages to sneak in our back door again. A lot of things we don’t even question. It’s what we have always known and therefore it must be right. But it was for freedom that Christ has set us free (Gal 5,1) and not to put us under bondage again. This message is so freeing. It just wipes out any self condemnation. In my own effort I will just find it impossible to keep Jesus at the centre of my life. But if I just behold him and see myself in him I will automatically keep him at the very centre. Also I will be so confident in who I am, the person Jesus has made me to be, that I won’t need to lie about anything.
No more do I have to keep a Sabbath rest but my whole life is lived out of rest. Boy my eyes are opened more and more to the fact how deadly the law is to me. The law itself is holy righteous and good but what does it help me if it brings the worst out of me instead. I’m so glad Jesus came to redeem me out of this system of performance into a life of freedom of finding out who I really am. I was lost and now I’m found in Jesus. My origin is in God and has now been restored.
Let’s guard our hearts and not fall from grace and try and work out our salvation ourselves again. Let’s rest in his work. It’s really exciting to have access to this website. I love learning more about grace. Because grace is Jesus and Jesus is our life! So with that in mind I just feel it’s really important that we make a big effort to love each other like we can read in the bible. We should really stop bad mouthing each other and stop even the white lies. A lie is a lie after all. Also i try and ask myself on a regular basis if Jesus is still the centre of my life. So often I get distracted and other things become more important (work, family, hobbies etc) and I lose my focus. It’s hard to hear from God when I’m that way.
Sometimes I actually feel a bit guilty that I’m not going to church anywhere. After all we are meant to rest on the 7th day and have fellowship with our brothers and sister. It’s really great to be part of such a big family.

Yes audio/video sounds good. And a whole lot of short paragraphes looks a lot more inviting than one big passage. Maybe use bold print for different titles/subtitles so it’s easier to find a place again. I personally also would appreciate 2 weeks notice for each assignment. That way i can let it sink in better. Does anyone know about the tradition of adoption during the New Testament? I have heard it say before that adoption wasn’t really practised the way we do it now. The Dad would actually adopt his own son once he is of age where he can make adult decisions. He would be given a ring so he can seal contracts in his fathers name, buy and sell etc. This would really support the picture of our position in Christ. We are fully trusted and accepted as sons. We have been given God’s authority.
Also from that point the son was looked at as an adult and would no longer be taught by a tutour. Same for us; we no longer need the law now that we are free in Christ.
Looking forward to hear your thoughts.
Hi Ruth – yes, wonderful! Amazing how the internet is bridging gaps – reminds me of the ”the whole body fitly joined together by what every joint supplies”! There is a brilliant (recent) teaching by Allan Platt where he talks of this adoption of sons – the best teaching I’ve ever heard on the prodigal son (Luk 15)… you can download here: http://www.mirrorreflection.net/downloadmp3/2010Mar_Wordschool/ its called ”Sonship Allan Platt Grace Camp.mp3”

i agree ruth, we need to strive to do the right thing, we must always ask ourselves ’what would jesus do?” and then try our best to do it, its so good to serve him and he will reward us for our efforts. i heard a great saying recently – try your best and God will do the rest’
????????????!!

Was reading while on the phone – got thoroughly confused/bemused!
John 4:26 ”I am he,” said Jesus. ”You don’t have to wait any longer or look any further.”
Right now, right here – He is my life
the law is subtle and is simply this – DEBT TOWARD GOD. IFyou feel you owe God devotion or praise or confession or on and on you can go then law is at work in your heart energizing you to be busy doing and thereby causing Christ to be of no effect to you. Christ has paid our debt in full and credited our account with unlimited riches energizing us to……REST!
